Objectives

To deepen the knowledge of normal and human pathological development, at the facial and stomatognathic levels.
 
General knowledge in orthodontic treatment in its biological and mechanical context.

Learning outcomes and competences

 Ability to recognize normal and abnormal development of the face, the occlusion of the oral functions.

General knowledge and interpretation of orthodontic treatment in its biological and mechanical context.

General improvement of manual dexterity and  handling of orthodontic laboratory instruments.

Pre-requirements (prior knowledge) and co-requirements (common knowledge)

It does not apply in the strict sense.
However, it assumes knowledge of subjects from previous semesters - with particular relevance: anatomy, physiology, embryology, biopathology and physics.

Program

Basic concepts on growth and development.
Cranofacial growth.
Physiology of the stomatognatic system.
Development of the dentition.
Biological and mechanical bases of tooth movement and dentofacial orthopaedic treatment.
Etilogy of malocclusion: general and local factors

Calculation formula of final grade

• (average from the theoretical tests x 0.60)+ average (sum of all pratical work + continuous evaluation mark+class attendance) x 0,40 

Minimum of 10 points (in 20) must be achievd for approval. Although a minimum of 9 points (in 20) is required in either theoretical and practical evaluation.

Examinations or Special Assignments

Students whith special status  will have additional assessment tests , to be carried out during "normal evaluation schedulle."
The type and number of tests will be determined individually depending on the work missing and will be carried out corresponding to the regular student.

Students whith special status that enrole all the evaluation moments of ordinary students are exempt from extra trials and special works .

We recommend that students who wish to make use of statutes to inform teachers in the START of the semester n order to schedeulle those special works.

In order to be approved, the students need the theoretical and practical component. Those students whose statute allows them a special evaluation regime may be evaluated apart from the ordinary calendar.
