Objectives
Be competent in understanding of the current concepts of Prosthodontics and Occlusion and its research lines. Be competent to diagnose and present a correct occlusion and prosthodontics treatment plan, justifying their decisions. Be competent in understanding the existing epidemiological data in the area of oral rehabilitation. Be competent to resolve in clinical practice, independently, simple or complex situations, such as single restorations and bridges, dento or implantsupported, removable dentures, overdentures on teeth and implants, and occlusal gutters. Be aware of new concepts and lines of inquiry in the field of prosthodontics, occlusion and orofacial pain.
Learning outcomes and competences
Students who have approved the curricular unit of Prosthodontics and Occlusion II should be able to: Diagnose and plan an oral rehabilitation treatment plan for partial and total edentulous. Identify the advantages, disadvantages, indications, contraindications and implications of tooth fixed and removable prosthesis, taking into account the theoretical knowledge Occlusion, TMJ and Orofacial Pain. Understand the importance of occlusion concepts in oral rehabilitation. Carry out a clinical examination correctly and accurately. Correctly diagnosing the temporomandibular disorders, orofacial parafunctions and their differential diagnoses.
The teaching of the curricular unit of Prosthodontics and Occlusion II is split into lectures and practical using audiovisual media, with the purpose of transmitting information, facilitate understanding and interpretation of literature, as well as to increase the motivation.
