The course seeks to identify epidemiologic paradigms of research, promoting knowledge­date research methods; the use of instruments and research practices and their application to the investigation process.
The unit supports the preparation of the thesis project, and assessment procedures of continuous nature.

The participation and active discussion within each session will allow the student to contact with distinct research realities. In this way it is expected that students extend their background scientific knowledge, within Dental medicine, and sums up to the successful development of the thesis plan.
The contact with distinct thematic sessions, given by distinct lecturers, specialized in distinct fields, will aloow the students to contact with new research realities, as well as with distinct methodologies and scientific approaches, allowing the expansion of their scientific formation, within Dental Medicine.

Develop a research proposal.
Develop a literature review, given the state of the art object of study.
Developing an appropriate methodology to the study object, proving the scientific research proposal. Process collecting experimental data.

Seminars. Following seminar presentation, the lecturer will moderate a discussion session about the presented thematic, with an active participation of the students.

The student must present a written paper regarding the planning of his thesis.
