Objectives
Provide skills to enable the identification and recognition of genetic features and/or their patterns of inheritance.
Provide knowledge to enable the investigation of issues related to dental medicine and medical and orofacial genetics.
Manage studant competencies in order to acquire knowledge and interpretation capacity about:
- The applicability of new sequencing technologies insituations of normality and pathology,
- The vanguard of morphologic sudy techniques of chromosomes.
- The usefulness of the whole human genome study technologies.
- Investigation of issues related to dental medicine and medical and orofacial genetics.
Learning outcomes and competences
The proposed syllabus intend that the student in the end of the curricular unit develop skills to identify the most appropriate Technologies for research planning in medical and orofacial genetics applied to dental medicine.

Teaching methods and learning activities
Theoretical and theoreticalpratical classes.
The theoretical classes work of expository form in order to enable stored knowledge, acquire new knowledge and to summarize and integrate the globality of the information. The exhibition is performed using the appropriate software presentations and thematic videos. The latter aim expertise integration and present knowledge acquisition about the oral morphological sciences (in specific in medical and orofacial genetics) applied to dental medicine.
The theoreticalpractical classes are aimed at developing students group work, subject to the latest topics in the field of genetics, under tutorial guidance.
