Objectives
Aquisition of new competences within the assessment of the dental patient regarding the psycological, radiological and therapeutic component, in the presence and absence of associated systemic pathology. A focus will be set on the skills acquisition regarding the management of complex and multidisicplinary cases.
Learning outcomes and competences
This course aims the development within students, clinical capacities for the management of the dental patient, with emphasys on diagnostic and treatment options regarding psycology, radiology, microbiology and clinical pharmacology envolvment.
Lectures within na interactive approach, with na active student participation in the discussion and resolution of
clinical problems, aims to be set as a starting point for the aquisition of competences in the mangement of complex clinical situations within the area of intervention of Dental Medicine. It is aimed that students, through clinical case simulation, develop their diagnostic, planing and management skills.

Module I: Psycology - The therapeutic relation in Dental Medicine; The psycologic approach to the patient.
Module II: Radiology - The radiographic approach of the dental patient.
Module III: Microbiology - Oral microbiology and infeccious pathology of the oral cavity; Sample and harvesting techniques and sample identification.
Module IV: Clinical pharmacology - Physical examination and risk assessment; Medical emergencies in dental practice; Laboratory diagnostics.

Teaching methods and learning activities
Weekly sessions of 2h theoretical and practical lessons. The classes will be organized in 4 thematic modules and will be presented in a interactive approach, starting with the presentation and clinical discussion of clinical complex cases for the acquisition and sedimentaiton of new concepts.
