Objectives
- Ensure the appropriate knowledge of removable appliances, functional appliances and extra-oral appliances;
- Develop the ability to analyze different types of fixed orthodontic techniques;
- To acquire a desire to learning based on curiosity, rigor and the pursuit of knowledge;
- To ensure the basic knowledge of straight wire technique;
- Develop the capacity of analyse and apply the principles of the bioprogressive technique;
- To acquire the basic knowledge of skeletal anchorage.
Learning outcomes and competences
The contents are in line with the objectives of the course, allowing the acquisition of appropriate knowledge to exercise informed basic orthodontics techniques. The theoretical lessons of the different techniques and types of orthodontic appliances and bone anchorage will insure the acquisition of appropriate knowledge of the techniques and types of orthodontic appliances and bone anchorage.
The teaching methods were adopted in order to optimize the acquisition of adequated knowledge and skills to perform informed basic orthodontics techniques. The theorical lessons about the different orthodontic devices, orthodontic and bone anchorage techniques, and the presentation of several clinical cases, will allow the student participation in the discussion of its diagnostic, treatment plan and prognostic. In this way we will insure the proper knowledge about the different orthodontic devices, the ability of analysis of the different orthodontics techniques and the basic knowledge for mini implants application.
