Guided clinical practice in the area of removable prosthetic dentures, providing students
with the knowledge and experience to: diagnose and evaluate non-dentate patients;
establish a trusting relationship with patients; be able to efficiently treat the simplest cases;
know the steps involved in the laboratory to fabricate prosthetic dentures; stimulate interest
in acquiring knowledge of up-to-date developments to overcome difficulties in approaching
more complicated cases; recognise and advise patients with more severe prognoses;
integrate knowledge of removable prosthetic dentures in the wider field of Dental Medicine.
Students must be competent in the treatment of simpler cases of oral rehabilitation, using removable prosthodontics.
Observation, diagnostic, treatment plan, implementation of clinical steps, requisition and
critical analysis from laboratorial support necessary for the treatment of non-dentate
patients.
Discussion of all procedures with the teacher responsible.
The lessons in clinical practice are given weekly under the supervision of a teacher who as
well as giving theoretical-practical support, will also assess students.
Articles published in journals of the area and selected by teachers.
Clinical practice supervised by a graduate teacher.

Attendance of at least 2/3 of the lessons.
Presentation of clinical work (and respective reports) requested by the teacher.

All grades above 16 must be ‘defended’ in an oral exam, otherwise the student will remain
with a grade of 16 marks.
The final grade can be improved in the exam period immediately following that in which the
student passed.
