It is intended that the student acquires competence and autonomy in formulating a periondontal diagnosis and treatment plan being proficient in performing basic periodontal treatments and recognizing the need for advanced and multidisciplinary periodontal treatments.
At the end the student must:
-Be competent at formulating a diagnosis and establishing a comprehensive periodontal treatment plan in patients of all ages and conditions providing its sequence and prioritising different therapeutic alternatives
-Be competent in undertaking supra and sub-gingival root surface debridement using both powered and manual instrumentation.
-Have knowledge of indications and contraindications, principles and techniques of advanced periodontal therapy.
-Be familiar with different therapeutic alternatives even in the most complex and multidisciplinary cases.
-Be able to perform simple periodontal surgical procedures.
-Be familiar with implant therapy and periimplant diseases.
