Anatomia Patológica dedicates to the study of structural and functional alterations of cells, organs and tissues which are the base of diseases. Anatomia Patológica – Biopatologia II principal goal is to prepare the young dentist to use the study of the lesions (morphologic, immunologic, biochemical, molecular ones) as an instrument to comprehend the etiopathogenesis of the diseases and help in diagnosis proposals, therapy selection and establishment of prognosis of the most frequent entities. Mostly at the oral cavity field of knowledge. It is also important to learn how to identify the ambient-genetic interactions in means of preventive medicine.

Anatomia Patológica – Biopatologia II program is related to the study plan of Anatomia Patológica – Biopatologia I which is focused in the study of general pathology (3rd year, 5th semester). This is the session’s program for 2013-2014:

47 hours of sessions that corresponds to 1 hour of theory session per week; 2 hours of seminar per week and 2 hours practice per each two weeks. One theory session per week during one hour maximum: 50 minutes of theory followed by 10 minutes of discussion. One seminar per week during two hours maximum with previous distribution of texts and pictures (trough Crucial Documents, at Sigarra website) to the students, that wishfully should discuss them during the session. One practice session during 2 hours each two weeks. The session comprehends the discussion of one or two subjects with previous distribution to the students (trough online Crucial Documents) of texts and pictures of selected cases: macroscopic pictures of surgical specimens, histology slide pictures, histochemical and immunohistochemical slide pictures and ultrastructural photos. Wishfully, the student should explore previously the distributed documents and be able to discuss them during the session. Students should be distributed in to four groups and be present in separately sessions.

Absences control is made 10 minutes after sessions beginning and accounts with 2 points for the global evaluation (see Faculty evaluation rules). Students exceeding 25% of the foreseeable sessions will not obtain frequency, according to the faculty’s evaluation rules.
Final Classification Formula: 2 points (attendance) + 6 points (practice exam) + 12 points (theory exam). Exam: comprehends practice exam (6 points out of 20) and theory exam (12 points out of 20). Practice exam: 20 short-answer questions about image documents showed during sessions or very similar to pictures presented in recommended books. Theory exam: 50 multiple choice questions and 15 short-answer questions. There is no penalisation for wrong answers. There will be no oratory defence. Practice and theory exam can be reviewed by student’s requisition.
