Objectives

Theoretical objectives: The aim of the course Occlusion, TMJ and Orofacial Pain I is to give students the basic knowledge essential to enable them to assess the normal function of the cranio-cervical-mandibular complex , and to identify and catalog the evidence of present pathology.

Practical objectives: On a practical level, classes at CU Occlusion, TMJ and Orofacial Pain aim to prepare the student for the correct administration of the examination of the specific clinical area; in addition, the students shall be mounting study models in a semi-adjustable articulator with face bow.

Learning outcomes and competences

Students who have approval to the Curricular Unit Occlusion, TMJ and Orofacial Pain I should be able to:

    - Assess the normality of the cranio-cervical-mandibular complex ;

    - Identify and understand the temporomandibular disorders;

    - Perform a clinical examination correctly and accurately;

    - Mounting study models a semi-adjustable articulator.
