Objectives
The student must be able to perform protocols to control pain and infection in dentistry in healthy and medically patient
Related to the medically compromised patient the student must be able to:
- take and interpret a medical history and to identify those conditions
that may require modification of the delivery of dental treatment
- identify drugs that a patient may be taking, and to be
able to research those drugs for potential interactions and side effects
- determine when a medical consultation is needed and be able to write a
written request for a medical consult
- identify those medical conditions that require laboratory testing prior to
the delivery of dental treatment
