Objectives

The general goals of the UC General Orthodontic Aspects III of the 9th Specialization Course in Orthodontics are:
- To develop Knowledge related with biomechanics, extraction, expansion, and stripping;
- To develop subjects related with the confection of elements natural in wire for fixed orthodontics;
- To know the rapid palatal expansion and the usual devices;
- To be able to finish orthodontics cases and the interdisciplinary approach

- Bioprogressive technique
- Trans palatal Zachrisson and Goshgarian arches
- Quick Nance
- Pendulum
- Quad helix
- Orthodontic elastics
- Class I, II and III treated with extractions
- Palatal expansion and types of devices

Teaching methods and learning activities

Theoretical, practical and other classes (32 T + 13 O)

Evaluation Type

Distributed evaluation with final exam

Eligibility for exams

Ned to be present at least of 75% contact hours

Calculation formula of final grade

Presence at classes x 10% + Continuous evaluation x 20% + Final examination 70%

The final classification will bee expressed in a numeric scale from 0 to 20

Its approved the student witch the final classification is 10

Student cannot register more than two times in this unit.
Omissions
This unit obeys the Rules of the Specialization Course in
Orthodontics and Regulation of the Centre for Continuing Education of
the Faculty of Dental Medicine, University of Porto. Situations not
covered in these regulations follow the precepts of the rules of
establishment, accreditation and the accreditation of internal
training courses in the area of continuing education of the University
of Porto.
The omitted cases will be decided by head of the University
of Porto taking the recommendation of the course coordinator into consideration
