Objectives

Oral surgery aims to assure student´s knowledge achievement on classification, etiology and pathogeny of oral diseases and develop abilities on Oral Surgery practice.


Student will be able to:
Understand, examine, diagnose and document a wide spectrum of diseases, injuries and defects in the head, neck, face, jaws and the hard and soft tissues.
Attain a complete medical and clinical history.
Acknowledge and evaluate most frequent oral diseases that require surgical and non surgical treatment.
Develop practical knowledge on auxiliary means which help oral diseases diagnosis and treatment.
Be able to carry out surgical procedures for teeth extraction and hard and soft tissues surgery.

Eligibility for exams

See academic regulation. A minimum of 75% of class attendance.

Calculation formula of final grade

Final mark from 0 to 20 points = (Theoretical testx 0,45) + (average of all practical work + continuous evaluation mark)x 0,45) + (class attendance x 0,1). Minimum of 10 points must be achievd for approval. Although a minimum of 7 points (in 20) is required in either theoretical and practical evaluation.

Special assessment (TE, DA, ...)

In order to be approved, the students need the theoretical and practical component. Those students whose statute allows them a special evaluation regime may be evaluated apart from the regular calendar.
