The Occlusion, TMJ and Orofacial Pain II course aims to approach the different therapeutic temporomandibular disorders. It also has a eminently practical shed, in which students must develop skills with a view to mounting study models in semi-adjustable articulator.
To prescribe the appropriate TMD therapy, in accordance with the diagnosis previously made.
Mounting and individualization of study casts in a semi-adjustable articulator.
Treatment of temporomandibular disorders:
- Physiotherapy;
- Pharmacology;
- Intraoral appliances;
- Selective grinding.
Mounting of study casts in semi-adjustable articulator:
- Making the study casts;
- Making an anterior plan + individualization of the fork;
- Manufacture of waxes for intermaxillary registration;
- Registration with face bow;
- Mounting the maxillary cast;
- Intermaxillary records;
- Mounting the mandibular cast;
- Individualization of the articulator.
Teaching of the Course of Occlusion, TMJ and Orofacial Pain II is split into theoretical and practical lessons, interactive, with audiovisual media for the purpose of transmitting information, facilitate understanding and interpretation of literature, and awaken the motivation; there will also be undertaken more practical classes, where students are required to mount and individualize a semi-adjustable articulator.

The frequency in the course of Occlusion, TMJ and Orofacial Pain II is obtained by:
- Attend 75% of classes;
- Laboratory work: assembling and individualization of the study casts in semi-adjustable articulator
Students covered by special schemes that dispense with the presence in the classes, shall complete a written test and an oral test, which will assess the skills required for approval of the course
Theoretical component: Final Exam - minimum score 9,0 (45%);
Practical component: Distirbuted assessment - minimum score 9,0 (45%);
Attendance: 10%
Not being mandatory, students who wish to, can do research work within the curriculum, which will be considered in discontinuous assessment.

Students repeating the Course, provided they have been approved to the practical component need only take the final examination, if they so wish.
Access to the appeal exam is dependant on approval of the practical component.
