Objectives
The main aim of this course unit is to inform more than train, thus providing the students with general knowledge on several subjects on internal medicine, particularly on the most relevant diseases to Dentistry. However the programme does nor neglect some practical aspects, such as the ability to manage emergency situations and the training in cardio-respiratory reanimation.
Program
Theoretical classes: Coronary Diseases, Arterial Hypertension, Cardiac Insufficiency I: concept, epidemiology, Cardiac Insufficiency II: pathophysiology, clinic, Heart Infectious Diseases, prophylaxis of the Bacterial Endocarditis, Chronic Respiratory Insufficiency, Diabetes mellitus, the Hepatic Patient, the Renal Patient, Thyroid and Supra-Renal Diseases, the Hypocoagulated Patient or Patient suffering from Coagulotomy, Iatrogeny and pharmacological interactions, Assessment of the operating risk.
Practical and theoretical/practical classes: Organisation of the clinical procedure, Changes in the state of consciousness, Coronary Diseases, Cardiac insufficiency, Coagulotomy, Respiratory diseases, Basic life support, Diabetes, Hypertension, Hepatic diseases, emergency Kit.
