Abstract (EN): The methanol and chloroform extracts of Cratoxylum maingayi Dyer have shown immunomodulatory activity on the classical pathway of the human complement system. Only the methanol extract showed an inhibitory effect on the alternative pathway. Phytochemical investigation of the chloroform extract has resulted in the isolation of 1,7-dihydroxyxanthone, 1,5-dihydroxy-8-metho-xyxanthone and 5-hydroxy-2,3,4,8-tetramethoxyxanthone. Inhibitory activity of the three xanthones was dose dependent.
