Abstract (EN): Some studies have revealed pecularieties to the immune response in Buerger's syndrome: anti-elastine, anti-collagenic, anti-nucleus and anti-arterial antibodies, circulating immune complexes and celular response to collagens I and III. One of us also found the presence of deposits of IgG, C3 and C4 in vascular lesions (areas of elastic rupture) in the endarteritis obliterans of the young men (Roncon-Albuquerque R, 1983). With the objective of relating the lesions found and clinically revealed vascular disease with the presence of circulating immune complexes (CIC), 33 patients with endarteritis obliterans (E.O.) were studied, 20 with atherosclerosis (A.T.) and 20 normal (N.), all were heavy smokers of the male sex and from the same age group. Five methods of investigation were used. Two nephelometric methods: direct nephelometry (N.D.), nephelometry with protamine (N.P.); two methods of precipitancy with polyethylene glycol (PegIgG and PegC4) and one immuno-enzymatic method of fixation to C1q (C1qE). The results indicate towards the presence of C.I.C. in peripheric arterial disease in the young smoker, particularly in situations of Endarteritis Obliterans of the young men.
