Abstract (EN): For the seismic analysis of concrete dams several numerical tools are required, which are reviewed on this contribution. Interaction between the dam and the rock foundation is discussed, particularly within the framework of the energy dissipation through radiation and the appropriate strategies to prescribe the seismic input. Solid-fluid interaction is also mentioned, as well as the constitutive model specifically developed for the seismic analysis of concrete massive structures, which incorporates two scalar damage variables. The seismic behaviour of a gravity dam and of an arch dam are analysed and discussed. Indications concerning the influence of the rock foundation on the earthquake response of these dams are also provided.
