Abstract (EN):
The geometrically non-linear free and forced, steady-state, vibration of thin isotropic, fully clamped plates is investigated using the hierarchical finite element (HFEM) and the harmonic balance methods (HBM). The equations of motion are developed by applying the principle of virtual work, and the solutions are calculated by a continuation method. The convergence properties of the HFEM and of the HEM are analysed. Internal resonances are discovered, and the consequences of modal coupling in free and steady-state forced vibration are discussed.
