Resumo (PT): ES: Las relaciones políticas y comerciales anglo- ibéricas de finales de la Edad Media han sido investigadas a fondo por los historiadores, habiendo examinado las narrativas de la diplomacia, los tratados políticos, la circulación de mercancías y el papel de los mercaderes y sus colonias en el extranjero. Este ensayo tiene como objetivo explorar una dimensión diferente de las relaciones anglo- ibéricas aplicando una metodología de diplomacia económica a tres tratados firmados en los siglos XIV y XV. Al adoptar una perspectiva diferente sobre los tratados anglo- castellanos de 1351 y 1466, y el tratado anglo- portugués de 1353, este enfoque examinará las raíces de esos acuerdos, sus actores y sus consecuencias económicas. Al hacerlo, se discutirá si los tratados anglo- ibéricos siguieron herramientas y objetivos políticos o económicos y con qué fin.

Abstract (EN): Late medieval Anglo- Iberian political and commercial relations have been thoroughly investigated by historians, who have examined the narratives of diplomacy, the political treaties, the circulation of commodities and the role of merchants and their overseas colonies. This essay aims at exploring a different dimension of Anglo- Iberian relations by applying an economic diplomacy methodology to three treaties signed in the fourteenth and fifteenth centuries. By adopting a different perspective over the Anglo- Castilian treaties of 1351 and 1466, and the Anglo- Portuguese treaty of 1353, this approach will thus examine the roots of those agreements, its actors, and its economic consequences. By doing so, it will discuss if the Anglo- Iberian treaties followed political or economic tools and objectives and to what end.
