Abstract (EN):
Working with children and adolescents often raises considerable difficulties as these groups do not possess the necessary ability to accept and act upon decisions made in their best interest. Consequently, the professional, in conjunction with the family, defines the required actions for the people in these age groups, and involves them in subsequent decisions. Nevertheless, it is the relationship between the best interest of the child or adolescent and the wishes of the family that generates the most complex ethical dilemmas. In this instance the professional must be well aware of the priorities in the therapeutic relationship and those in obtaining envolved informed consent, where respecting confidentiality.
