Resumo (PT): Na obra De iustitia et iure Luís de Molina distingue entre diferentes sentidos de servidão e considera lícita a escravatura desde que praticada no âmbito de determinadas condições. Este artigo estuda a posição de Molina, mostrando que a definição precisa das condições sob as quais é lícita a escravatura, permitem-lhe limitar o âmbito legal desta prática, denunciar as injustiças do comércio de escravos, reivindicar a regulação do poder político e eclesiástico e enquadrar diversas possibilidades para a libertação dos escravos.

Abstract (EN): In De iustitia et iure Luis de Molina distinguishes between different meanings of servitude and considers slavery to be licit if it is practised within the framework of certain conditions. This article studies Molina's position, showing that the precise definition of the conditions under which slavery is licit allows him to limit the legal scope of this practice, to denounce the injustices of the slave trade, to claim the regulation of political and ecclesiastical power, and to frame a set of slave rights.
