Resumo (PT):
Abstract (EN):
The chapter focuses on the finite element modelling of soil excavations supported by flexible structures or by soil reinforcement. This comprises strutted and anchored walls as well as nailed excavations. The chapter is divided in three parts. Firstly, some considerations are presented about the main subject of the chapter. This is followed by the application of a 2D F.E. model, with nonlinear elastic behaviour, and of a 3D linear elastic model for the analysis of a real nailed excavation. The chapter closes with the application of a F.E. elastoplastic model for the study of bearing capacity failure of tied-back walls, a rather curious and complex problem of soil-wall interaction.
