Abstract (EN): Thin film composite membranes are used to remove organic compounds from air. The coupling of PSA as polishing step has been proposed in a number of cases. This paper deals with steady-state simulation of integrated membrane/PSA processes. A simulator is presented considering the membrane, PSA and condensation units, compressor and vacuum pump. The membrane unit is modelled using perfect mixing and cross flow models assuming constant permeabilities and the PSA configuration is the traditional Skarstrom cycle modelled assuming local equilibrium and linear isotherms. An example is presented for a process involving the removal and recycling of benzene.
