Abstract (EN): In newborn infant, cerebral infarction is often difficult to distinguish from cerebral hemorrhage, both pathologies being moreover frequently associated. We report a left anterior stroke in a fullterm newborn who had seizures on the third day of life. Ultrasound scanning showed a hyperechogenic zone in the territory of the left anterior cerebral artery. Pulsed and color Doppler imaging showed a decreased blood flow velocity in comparison to the opposite side, thus enabling the diagnosis. (C) 1999 Elsevier, Paris.
