Abstract (EN): During the last years, in recent earthquakes several buildings have experienced important damages. Through the post-earthquake field surveys, it was possible to associate the damages observed to constructive and design/detailing solutions different from the current codes' recommendations that contain the highest demands in which the seismic action is considered. Throughout this chapter, the main shortcomings concerning the major damages observed in reinforced concrete structures over the last years will be presented. Special attention will be given to the damages related to the masonry infill walls' presence and to shear failure mechanisms.
