Santarém: ponto de encontro das Ordens Militares e território de transição no seu horizonte senhorial (1147-1320)

Resumo (PT): O território de Santarém, pela sua localização estratégica e pela sua riqueza económica representou, desde cedo, um centro de confluência dos interesses das Ordens Militares. Desde 1147, ano em que D. Afonso Henriques doa o espiritual aos Templários, implantaram-se aí outras Ordens Militares, nomeadamente Avis, Santiago e Hospital. Doações régias e particulares, contratos de emprazamento e litígios sobre dízimos são as fontes privilegiadas para este estudo e que permitem conhecer a dispersão patrimonial destas Ordens. A baliza cronológica encerra em 1320, ano da elaboração do Catálogo das Igrejas, Mosteiros e Comendas, que fixa os valores de contribuição para a Cruzada, e que regista valores para nove igrejas das Ordens Militares em Santarém, precisamente no ano seguinte ao da criação da Ordem de Cristo. O apuramento dos comendadores de Santarém permitiu aprofundar o estudo da complexidade da história deste território e alcançar interessantes conclusões.

Abstract (EN): The territory of Santarém, due to its strategic location and its economic wealth, represented, from an early stage, a center for confluence of the interests of the Military Orders. Since 1147, when the king Afonso Henriques donated the spiritual to the Templars, other Military Orders were implanted there, namely Avis, Santiago and the Hospitallers. Royal and private donations, land contracts and tithes’ litigation are the privileged sources for this study. The chronological beacon closes in 1320, the year of preparation of the Catalog of Churches, Monasteries and Commanderies, which establishes the values of contribution to the Crusade, and which registers values for nine churches of the Military Orders in Santarém, precisely in the year following the creation of the Order of Christ. The qualification of the commanders of this territory allowed to deepen the study of the complexity of the history of this territory and to reach interesting conclusions.
