Abstract (EN):
This paper describes the development and evaluation of two high dilution FIA systems for the automatic determination of Ca, Mg, Na, and K in milks by atomic spectroscopy. The samples were adjusted for the species concentration levels prior to analysis by AAS and flame emission spectroscopy. One system uses the stream splitting method in which application of high pressure at the detector inlet adjusts the ion concentration to a linear relationship between the analytical signal and the species concentration to be measured. The other system uses a dialysis unit for concentration adjustments. The FIA manifold using stream splitting achieved a RSD ranging from 0.3-0.7% with sampling rates of 140 samples per hour. Using the dialysis unit, a RSD ranging from 0.5-1.9% for 120 samples per hour was achieved.
