Abstract (EN): The pretérito perfeito composto (PPC) in European Portuguese (EP) has typically an iterative reading when combined with events. In this paper, we show what are the conditions and the restrictions relating to this reading, taking into account the possibilities of its occurrence with quantificational expressions. Finally, we propose that the `pretérito perfeito composto¿ in European Portuguese denotes one event, of group type, formed by the iteration of basic eventualities.
