Abstract (EN):
Evidence Based Medicine (EBM) is generally defined as the conscientious, explicit and judicious use of current best evidence in making decisions about the care of individual patients. In this section devoted to Evidence Based Paediatrics a thorough discussion on the conceptual, methodological and operational issues related to the practice of EBM in the field of Paediatrics has been presented. In the present article a practical example is developed allowing the application of concepts, methods and competencies covered in previous articles and specifically devoted to the critical appraisal and practical implementation of systematic reviews and meta-analysis. A clinical scenario is explored were the evidence about the efficacy of therapeutic interventions for eradication of Helicobacter pylori infection in children needs to be analysed and a systematic approach is used based on three main aspects: (1) assessment of validity and methodological quality of the systematic review; (2) assessment of scientific and practical impact of its results and (3) assessment of applicability of its results.
