Abstract (EN):
In this study it is presented the geochronological, sedimentological and palynological analysis on the cover level named ¿Formação areno-pelitica de cobertura¿ from several deposits found from Porto to Vila Nova de Gaia coastal areas. Geochronological studies were performed by quartz-OSL dating and sedimentary analysis, grain size distribution and palynological analysis was conducted. The studied samples have an age between 67 and 56 ky and represent an areno-pelitic bed with pebbles corresponding to a sedimentary level with continental influence, probably developed in periglacial conditions. The pollen profile is dominated by non-arboreal species, particularly pollen from higher plants of Poaceae, Asteraceae, Ericaceae, Cistaceae, Apiaceae and Pteridophytes as Isoetes, indicating a cold and dry environment of open vegetation with lower tree representation. © 2014, LNEG ¿ Laboratório Nacional de Geologia e Energia IP.
