Details
Summary: New sustainable energy sources are essential in order to prevent devastating climate change. The strategy to generate high-energy molecules based on Solar light (solar fuels) derived from CO2 and water has been considered as one of the most prospective
long-term solutions to solve climate change effect as well as providing potentially viable replacement alternatives to fossil fuels. The low activities and selectivities of the state-of-the-art catalysts together with the high cost of CO2 capture and separation from
industrial process are driving the search for new systems with competitive CO2 capture and conversion at low cost. Adopting cutting-edge techniques from Environmental Catalysis and Membranes Science, the overall purpose of the 2DMAT4FUEL project
is the development of a new generation of photocatalytic membranes based on two-dimensional materials, with high stability and durability for CO2 separation and conversion into transportable liquid chemicals under solar irradiation.
