Details
Summary: The main objective of this project is to prove the feasibility of the next generation of stent grafts: implantable devices deployable using minimally invasive surgery, with enhanced medical performance and with embedded diagnostic function for bad placement and leakage detection. In order to achieve the main goal, intermediate objectives must be accomplished:
- New graft FEM models to understand structural behaviour and deployment system.
- New stretchable capacitive sensors based on a textile platform.
- Development of a manufacturing process to build ultra-thin elastomeric substrates with conductive layer for inductor construction.
- Development of an electronic system for wireless passive measurement of implantable devices.
- Use of an engineering systems approach during the development of the medical device. The accomplishment of these 5 goals will lead to the construction of a novel smart stent graft, using wireless passive telemetry, which can be inserted by a catheter with a French volume below 20.
Observations: The project is coordinated by Universidade do Minho - Prof. Luís Alexandre Rocha
