Objectives

The continuous training course is part of the objectives of the University of Porto, insofar as it aims at internationalization and in-depth training in the scientific field and the techniques in question, and also intends to contribute to the updating of knowledge of Dental Medicine students.

The aim of this continuous training course is to provide students in the last year of the Integrated Masters in Dentistry with the exercise of the acquired skills, in an environment supervised by professors from the different clinical areas of Dentistry. Tutorial supervision will allow the student of this course to improve their elementary clinical practice, but also to discuss and provide proper guidance and clarification for the resolution of more particular or complex clinical cases. Acquiring technical skills and updating technical-scientific knowledge are also general objectives of this training.

Information

The Dental Summer School continuous training course is an eminently practical course and aims at in-depth training in the scientific field and the techniques in question, and also intends to contribute to the updating of knowledge of students of Dentistry.

The number of contact hours for laboratory practical classes exceeds the limits laid down in the regulation for the application of curricular credits at the U.Porto, this is because students acquire, in advance, in theoretical-practical classes and seminars, where individual study requires greater dedication, the concepts to be applied in practical classes.

According to the regulations in force, the sum of the number of contact hours for a training course must be between approximately 25% and approximately 35% of the total number of working hours foreseen for it. As such, this training comprises 162 hours of student work, of which: 90 hours of participant work (with clinical sessions, seminars and laboratory practice, and assessment); 72 hours of individual study (dedicated to research work, among other non-contact activities, as well as study and preparation for assessment), should confer 6 ECTS credits.

TARGET AUDIENCE:
Students in the final year of the Integrated Master Degree in Dental Medicine (Dentistry), coming from Foreign Universities.

SPECIFIC CONDITIONS FOR ADMISSION AND SELECTION CRITERIA
The candidates will be selected by order of application, up to the maximum number of vacancies defined for the course, provided that they meet the specific entry requirements of the application form and provide:
- document proving attendance of the penultimate year and registration in the final year of the studies.
