Doctoral Programme in Forensic Sciences

The PhD Program in Forensic Sciences, the result of collaboration among seven faculties of the University of Porto (FMUP, FDUP, FFUP, FMDUP, FCUP, FPCEUP, and ICBAS), seeks to provide future forensic scientists, from a wide range of areas, with knowledge and skills appropriate to the resolution of issues regarding evidence in the area of forensic sciences, to the prevention of violence and victim intervention. The Program also raises their awareness, and prepares them for an attitude of interdisciplinary work.

The 3rd Cycle of Studies provides three areas of specialization: Specialization in Forensic Laboratory Sciences (60 ECTS), Specialization in Forensic Medicine (60 ECTS), and Specialization in Forensic Psychology and Psychiatry (60 ECTS Credits). The PhD lasts four years and comprises 240 ECTS.
