Objectives
The objectives of this course are:
- To make the students competent in the differential diagnosis of temporomandibular disorders, orofacial syndromes and orofacial parafunctions.
- To train students for proper planning of cases of oral rehabilitation, knowing the particulars of the different aids diagnosis.
- To make the students competent in prescribing the correct treatment plan of temporomandibular disorders, orofacial syndromes and orofacial parafunctions, taking into account the importance of the complex skull mandibular cervical.
Learning outcomes and competences
Students who obtain approval to the curricular unit Occlusion, TMJ and Orofacial Pain in Prosthodontics II, should be able to:
- Faced with a case of orofacial pain, refer the differential diagnoses that fall in the symptomatology of the patient.
- Prescribe necessary exames for a correct diagnosis and treatment of patients with temporomandibular disorders and cases of oral rehabilitation.
- Understand the importance of cranio-cervical-mandibular complex in the diagnosis, planning and treatment of patients;
- Prescribe appropriate therapy in accordance with the diagnosis performed.

Teaching methods and learning activities
Teaching is divided into lectures and theoretical and practical. The lectures are interactive and fundamentally seek to exposure of matter contained in the "syllabus", with the collaboration of students. They will be used also audio visual means to a better understanding of issues.
The practical classes have for objective the consolidation of subjects taught in lectures to clinical and laboratory level (study and practice of the articulators and use of axiografia).

Distributed evaluation without final exam. The students will be assessed individually during the theoretical and theoretical-practical through written tests and oral participation.
