Objectives

- Have competence in the critical evaluation of published works, having a comprehensive knowledge of the historical context of the different themes of etiology, pathogenesis and periodontal and peri-implant treatment, up to the present moment;

- Understanding the evolution of knowledge and the aspects that conditioned/driven this same evolution;

- Be able to analyze and select topics of interest in the area of Periodontology and Oral Implantology.

The different curricular units of Literature Review aim to base the evolution of the different themes covered in the other curricular units on a historical basis. Thus, the syllabus of the Literature Review curricular units for each of the themes has the following syllabus:

- Review and historical contextualization of content previously taught in the curricular unit on basic therapy with dental implants;

- Presentation and debate and various topics of interest in the area of Periodontology and Oral Implantology (covered in the curricular unit on basic therapy with implants);

- Analysis of methodological limitations;

- Beginning of the research project that will serve as the basis of the article to be written by the students.

Teaching methods and learning activities

The Curricular Unit will operate through theoretical classes and theoretical-practical classes, for debate and discussion of the program contents, as well as for the accompanied development of the research project.
