Objectives

- Have competence in the critical evaluation of published works, having a comprehensive knowledge of the historical context of the different themes of etiology, pathogenesis and periodontal and peri-implant treatment, up to the present moment;
- Understanding the evolution of knowledge and the aspects that conditioned/driven this same evolution;
- Be able to analyze and select topics of interest in the area of Periodontology and Oral Implantology.

Learning outcomes and competences

The different curricular units of Literature Review aim to base the evolution of the different themes covered in the other curricular units in a historical context. Thus, the syllabus of the Literature Review curricular units for each of the themes has the following syllabus:
- Review and historical contextualization of content previously taught in the curricular units of periodontal surgery and periodontology and other specialties;
- Presentation and debate of various topics of interest in the area of Periodontology and Implantology (covered in the curricular units of periodontal surgery and periodontology and other specialties);
- Analysis of methodological limitations;
- Selection of the research project methodology that will serve as the basis of the article to be written by the students.

Teaching methods and learning activities
