Objectives


At the end of the course, the student must:
1 - Be qualified for a critical and reflective study in the area of ​​Oral Surgery.
2 - Be able to diagnose, plan and execute integrated rehabilitation treatments.
3 - Master the techniques and skills necessary to carry out treatments in the area of ​​Oral Surgery.
4 - Know and master the classic and current scientific literature in the field of Oral Surgery.
5 - Master the research methodology related to the area of ​​Oral Surgery.
6 - To be qualified to carry out clinical and laboratory research.
7 - Know and master the pedagogical techniques of public presentation.
8 - Have the theoretical and practical bases for the elaboration and publication of articles and scientific works.


Learning outcomes and competences

The contents were defined in terms of objectives and skills to be acquired by students. The contents inlude the etiology, diagnosis and treatment of major disorders of the oral cavity requiring surgical treatment as well as the techniques and surgical procedures, so that students are able to diagnose and plan the best surgical treatment for different oral pathologies. At the same time, students will be able to perform clinical and surgical procedures. The student under the supervision of teachers carries out all clinical procedures, diagnostic and treatment. This follows the child at every stage of the practical class.

Treatment of patients in FMDUP by students, under teachers supervision, for diagnosis and treatment of pathologies in the Oral Surgery field. Pathologies observed and treated in this UC, the previous and the next UC Clinical Activity IV, are not subject to any restriction in terms of the type of pathology. The 4 UC allow students contact, diagnose and treat any disease area.

Teaching methods and learning activities

Cognitive skills are developed through participatory exposure and resolution of clinical cases. The practical skills are developed of supervised practical work in attending patients. Communication skills are acquired through group dynamics and interaction of the student with the patient.
