Objectives

To provide the students with scientific and technical knowledge which are vital to the development of attitudes and abilities required for an effective cooperation (in the different tasks) between Forensic Dental Medicine and justice.

Learning outcomes and competences

The syllabus is made in the sense that at the end of the course, students hold knowledge, skills and competencies that enable them  to actively participate in an exam that aims human identification using dental techniques.

• Introduction in Forensic Sciences • Forensic Dental Medicine: definition, historical data and main objectives • Human identification according to dental signals • Non-dental techniques for identification • Tooth and dental feeling resistance to physical and chemical elements • Dental techniques for identification • Human identification in case of catastrophe • Human identification by means of reconstructive methods • Marking of dental prostheses: techniques and objectives • Dental bite wounds. Importance to human identification and methodology • Medico-legal aspects of violence (child, women and elderly abuse)
