Objectives
- Be competent in understanding the evolution of Fixed Prosthodontics, its object of study and research, and their interrelationships with other sciences relevant to the training of dentists; in the characterization of the problems associated with tooth mortality and the need for prosthetic replacement, including its magnitude and epidemiological dimensions; in the concepts and terminology related to the discipline, using an appropriate scientific language; in understanding the major steps of fixed oral rehabilitation (inlays, crowns and small span bridges).
- Be aware of laboratory procedures used in the preparation of single restorations and bridges, tooth or implant-supported; of the new technologies related to Prosthodontics.
- Be familiar with the notions about the validity of knowledge and the need for training (updating, improving and deepening) in combination with the occupation.
Learning outcomes and competences
The programmatic content of this course is structured into two main components: 1) theoretical program, in order to acquire the basic knowledge necessary for further treatment of clinical cases of oral rehabilitation with fixed prosthesis on teeth and implant; 2) Theoretical and practical program, in which students have the opportunity to follow and discuss, in videos and in pre-clinical demonstrations, the rehabilitation treatment with fixed prosthesis on teeth and implant and thus know and understand all the necessary procedures (clinical and laboratory) for the treatment of simple cases of oral rehabilitation using the fixed prosthesis and to integrate the acquired knowledge.

Calculation formula of final grade
Type of evaluation: Distributed evaluation without final exam
A - Formula Evaluation:
Two written tests - 100%
Minimum passing grade: 9.5
Minimum score on each test - 7.5)
The absence from the first or the second testing, or grade below 7.5 points in one of these implies reprobation. The student can make final exam (normal time and/or resource season).
B - Scientific work or lecture in power-point, in groups of 1-4 students - voluntary and, if made, account as a 3rd test or 1/3 of the final score (examen). Does not enter to improving the final classification.
C - Final score equal or higher than 17 requires oral exam, or goes to 16.
