Dental Anatomy and Histology II aims learning and obtaining knowledge on the morphology of the posterior permanent teeth, deciduous teeth and the embryological development of teeth and the orofacial massive. It is destined to students attending the second degree of the Dental Medicine Integrated Master.
Students will develop knowledge, skills and abilities to understand and identify the morphological characteristics of posterior permanent teeth, deciduous teeth as well as the different stages of embryological development of the teeth and of the orofacial massive. They should also incorporate in its development, a critical view of the importance of this knowledge in the etiology of diseases, their manifestations and their clinical implications.
Dental Morphology
1. Permanent or secondary dentition. General and specific morphological features of the posterior teeth.
2. Primary or deciduous dentition.
3. Tooth eruption.
4. Deciduous and permanent teeth eruption chronology.
5. Morphological differences between deciduous and permanent dentition.
6. Clinical considerations.
7. Dental anomalies.
Oral Embryology
1. Human Embryology.
2. Specific aspects of Oro-Facial development.
2.1. Orofacial development.
2.2. Face, Oral Cavity and Palate development.
2.3. Malformations.
2.4 Dental development.
2.4.1. General
2.4.2. Specific
2.5. Dental malformations.
Theoretical classes - Presentation and discussion on dental morphology topics.
Theoretical and practical classes - Presentation and explanation of the orofacial massive and teeth embryology issues.
Practical classes - Drawing pictures of the tooth development stages and of its morphology. Dental wax sculpture.

Attendance of at least 75% of the theoretical-practical and practical classes.
The attrendance obtained in the theoretical and practical and in the practical classes of the curricular unit is valid for one year in case of disapproval.
Theoretical evaluation of embriology and morphology. An examination at the end of the semester for each of the two subjects will be done. The monography and the theoretical examination of embriology account for 50% for the final grade of this component. The remaining 50% are given by the morphology value. The average of the classifications obtained in these two theoretical components, morphology and embriology will have a weight of 50% in the final classification.
Practical assessment, with a practical examination at the end of each semester. The continuing evaluation in the practical classes account for 50% for the final grade of this component. The remaining 50% are given by the value obtained in the two practical examinations, one of morphology and the other of embriology, each counting by 50%. The average of the values obtained in these two practical components, continuous evaluation and final examination will have a weighting of 50% in the final classification.
Minimum value in each of the assessment components, theoretical and practical, of nine point zero values in twenty.
Development of a monography, review type, under the Oral Embryology subject.
Theoretical and pratical examination of morphology and embryology keeping the pratical classes avaliation.
