Objectives
Diagnostic skills regarding all kind of pulp inflammatory lesions, necrotic lesions, as well as traumatic injuries with periapical involvement, through specified clinical cases; Be able to elect and perform the most suited treatment for each patient (taking into consideration dental, cultural and economical issues), through the guidance and help of the supervisor/ responsible teacher. The student should be also able to perform all steps of any endodontic treatment in pre-selected teeth. All students will work in groups of two being united in the clinical environment and in the evaluation. The operator must comply with the Endodontic clinical protocols performing treatments. The other will play the role of assistant, not only preparing all the necessary material but also helping in the “four-hand” work.
Learning outcomes and competences
The student should be able to diagnose inflammatory lesions of the pulp, necrosis and gangrene as well as traumatic and periapical lesions through clinical cases, and be able to choose the most appropriate treatment, meeting the needs of the patient (dental, cultural economic) and, with the agreement of the teacher, then be able, to execute than.

Program
Clinical Radical Endodontic Treatment (manual instrumentation) in pre-selected anterior and posterior teeth. The difficulty degree will be standardized for all students. Each group should perform, at least – as minimum - one full radical endodontic treatment. There will be no limits for the maximum clinical works.

Teaching methods and learning activities
Each clinical performance should be done in order to keep and maintain the selected tooth. The students will be enrolled to participate in those treatments, under the most recent techniques as well as the traditional ones. There will be several seminaries to present and discuss some clinical cases and/or developed research projects.

Eligibility for exams
75% practical classes and, at least, one finalized clinical work.
Calculation formula of final grade
Aritmethical average of the clinical reports individual classifications (R), and the classification obtained though the supervisors during all lective year (D).
Examinations or Special Assignments
Such as literature reviews about subjects that could be agreed.
Classification improvement
Regarding the official regulement. A new written exam is mandatory.
Observations
Excepcionally (under the proof of impossibility to perform one clinical act), the supervisor can choose one additional clinical act (or similar) and the student may have the chance to perform it.
