Objectives

- Diagnose periodontal diseases
- Develop plans for periodontal treatment
- Perform non-surgical treatments
- Know ways to control local and systemic chemical periodontal disease
- Establish possible relationships between some systemic conditions and environmental / behavioral and periodontal disease

Learning outcomes and competences

 The program content is deined based on the goals that we propose to achieve. With this approach we intend to prepare our students with a correct periodontal clinical practice based on solid theorical background and accurate pre-clinic preparation. All this is achieved maintaining an open mind approach as well as adequate critical thinking. The curricular main goals are only achieved with clinical practice and theoretical support.

- Plan of periodontal treatment
- Non-surgical treatment
- Principles of instrumentation in periodontics and mechanical control of biofilm
- Halitosis
- Ways to control local and systemic chemical periodontal disease
- Influence of periodontal disease during pregnancy and cardiovascular disease
- Influence of tobacco in periodontal and periodontal treatment and smoking cessation
- Clinical characteristics of periodontitis in diabetic patients. Influence of periodontal disease in diabetes and immunosuppressed patients.

45% Theoretical + 45% Practical + 10% Attendance
