Etiopathogeny of pulpar diseases 1.1 Non-iatrogenic pulp lesions 1.2 Iatrogenic pulp lesions 2- Pulp pathology 2.1 Concept of pulp normality –clinical and histological 2.2 Pré-inflammatory symptoms – dental hypersensivity 2.3 Inflammatory pulp lesions 2.3.1 Reversible lesions 2.3.2 “Transition” lesions 2.3.3 Irreversible lesions 2.4 Necrosis and pulpar gangrene 2.5 Degenerative changes of the pulp 3. Microbiology of endodontics and asepsis in endodontic practice 3.1 Association of microbes with pulpar disease 3.2 Bacteria associated with caries 3.3 Reaction of pulp bacteria 3.4 Colonization of the pulp by the bacteria (pulpar infection): microbial selection 3.5 - Microorganisms found in root canals: the importance of the anaerobic bacteria in endodontic infections (Sundqvist); recent taxonomic changes 3.6 - Relationships between bacteria: synergistic /antagonistic 3.7 - I castes in necrotic pulp 3.8 - Primary and post-treatment infection endodontic retreatment 3.9 - Extra-radicular infection 4 - Asepsis and antisepsis in endodontics 4.1 - Sterilization and desinfection 4.2 . Universal precaution 4.3 - Dental aerosol and bacterial biofilm 4.4 - Barrier techniques 5 Periapical pathology 5.1 Classification and evolution of the lesions 5.2 Apical periodontitis 5.3 Acute apical abscess 5.3.1 “Phoenix” Abscess 5.4 Osteitis 5.5 Chronic apical abscess 5.6 Chronic apical periodontitis 5.7 Apical cyst 5.8 Treatment plan 5.9 Follow-up 6 - Pulpar and periapical diagnosis 6.1 Clinical history 6.2 Objective examination 6.2.1 Radiologic examination 6.2.2 Pulpar sensibility tests 7 - Conservative treatments of the pulp 7.1 Notions about the indirect pulp capping 7.2 Direct pulp capping 7.3 Pulpotomy 8. Traumatic injuries of the pulp 8.1 OMS classification 8.2 Pulp treatment Practical Classes During the practical classes are taught the theoretical knowledge to carry out work to be done Each student must perform, at least, one endodontic treatment of an upper molar and a lower molar (extracted teeth). The student has to deliver the report of each work with the respective radiographs Is also part of the program how to place the rubber dam for the different teeth.

Eligibility for exams

Beyond the legally required attendance, it is considered that often get the students to submit at least two reports of treatments performed during the semester. The average of these notes practices cannot be less than 7.5 values.

Calculation formula of final grade

Theoretical evaluation They carried out two written evaluations for semester. The arithmetic mean of these two evaluations is the Theoretical note Practical Evaluation The practical classification is obtained by the arithmetic mean of practical work done during the semester, more practical test (if unrealized) Final classification Is obtained by adding the theoretical evaluation times two plus the evaluation practice on three Note: The final classification is still considered the assiduity, as stipulated by the faculty
