Learning outcomes and competences
Students are encouraged to investigate the different aspects related to pre and post graduate education with professional practice and the functioning of the health system (public and private) from different European countries and other continents. Thus, the study developed makes it possible to deepen the knowledge of all relevant aspects regarding the practice of dentistry. At the same time they are taught various techniques for public speaking in view of the improvement of the same, initiating the public presentation training topics related to dentistry. This training is extremely important given the need in the future, the student (and subsequently dentist) need to make several presentations in classes and conferences.
The history of dentistry is taught using diverse iconography to better capture the attention of students to a subject that, while interesting, is a bit barren. However, it is important that the student has the consciousness that understanding the past can more easily understand the present and the future of the profession.
Lessons about the equipment in dentistry and the clinic FMDUP are held in two phases: a theoretical held in the classroom and other practice performed in the clinic FMDUP. This is the first contact of students with the clinic, which reinforces the interest and motivation of the same. After they are transmitted theoretical knowledge about the mode of operation of the clinic and the characteristics of the equipment, the software for schedule management, medical records and treatments for registration has a practice session at the clinic where the aspects described above are demonstrated.
