Objectives
The main specific goals of Periodontology I are the knowledge and understanding of the different components of the periodontal system and respective behaviors both in healthy and periodontally compromised individuals, together with the understanding of the different aspects of the epidemiology of periodontal diseases: classification, risk factors and prevalence. The theoretic-practical aims to integrate the knowledge acquired in lectures with practical clinical examples, provide the first contact with the basics of periodontal diagnosis and integrate of students in the clinic of our school. Among the non-specific objectives we highlight the critical analysis of contents of the course on scientific grounds.
Learning outcomes and competences
At the end of this course students should have acquired knowledge to understand the dynamics of periodontal system, its pathology, diagnostic methods and epidemiology. As well as developed skills to perform basic diagnostic procedures and act in clinic set.

Theoretical and practical classes:
in-depth examination of and discussion of lectures topics and its integration in clinical practice.
Practical classes: performance of basic proceduress of periodontal diagnosis, working positions.
