Objectives

The aim of this subject is to enable students who start an academic course of higher education for the task of search and knowledge production that lie ahead. So, first, it is expected for the student to become able to properly use the tools / technologies to access to information provided by the scientific community and the University of Porto in particular. Once sensitized to the importance of interpersonal communication in today's society, it is intended to provide students with skills for effective dissemination of scientific knowledge that access and that may produce.

Learning outcomes and competences

It is expected that students acquire skills in order to be able to plan, implement and present scientific research, taking into account;
- The steps of the scientific method;
- The use of credible sources of information;
- The rules for writing, presentation and or publication of various scientific papers.

Special assessment (TE, DA, ...)

The employed students (Despacho No. GR.03 / 05/2011) and students who have access to the special season to completion of the study program - Finalists (Article 9 of the General Regulations for the Evaluation of Learners. UP), should perform the continuous-process component (practical component) through the preparation and presentation of special work set by teachers, maintaining the requirement to do the terminal component  by conducting the written examination. It is advised these students to contact the teachers at the beginning of the semester for the timely preparation of the work plan.
