Objectives
Dental medicine is a scientific area in which the clinical and laboratory components are notorious
The doctoral Course in dentistry, with 60 ECTS, is a highly theoretical course, but in which the need for connection to the clinic and laboratories, in terms of research, is useful and necessary.
Thus, this curriculum unit objectives are: 1. Research in clinical environment (retrospective studies or other) or not members of the dissertation. 2. Research in the laboratory environment (dental anatomy and Physiology, genetics, Prosthodontics, biomechanics, histocompatibility or other) or not members of the dissertation. 3. Teaching experience in ECTS in dentistry (MIMD), Masters (Oral Surgery – WITH-or oral rehabilitation-MRO) or in specialized courses of FMDUP.

Each student is distributed in a similar time of the discipline (UC) in MIMD, MCO, MRO or a specialization course of FMDUP. This distribution is made taking into consideration the views of student, Advisor/co-tutor, and chair of the discipline for research in clinical and laboratory environment (IACL). The chair may delegate functions in one of the teachers of UC. If still not be appointed Advisor/co-tutor shall be taken into account also the UC elective in which the student enrolled in doctoral Course.
In exceptional and duly justified cases, at the request of the student and with the assent of the Advisor/co-tutor, the Scientific Commission of doctorate may omit the student achievement the hours fixed in FMDUP. In this case should be expressly stated in the alternative, including their location, the institution, responsible and the type of work.
The chair of UC in that time the student meets and functions is responsible for their attendance and indicate to the conductor of the UC-IACL the objectives assigned to it and their evaluation.
