To learn the terminology and the basic concepts in order to understand removable prosthodontics.
To study the consequences of tooth loss: individually, socially and economically.
To attain the needed theoretical and practical knowledge for the diagnosis of the partial and total edentulous patient.
To acquire general knowledge related to the rehabilitation of edentulous patients, with partial and complete removable prosthesis.
To have contact with the equipment, the materials and the techniques used in prosthetic treatment.

Teaching methods and learning activities

Theoretical teaching:
- exposure of the materials listed in the program, illustrated and accompanied with appropriate iconography; the students are encouraged to participate dynamically in class.

Practical training:
- the students are supposed to carry out of the all tasks included in the program.
- discussion of all works with the student for accomplishing the aim of learning: (1) how to make it and (2) why we do it.

Evaluation Type

Distributed evaluation with final exam

Eligibility for exams

Theory (T) and Continuous evaluation (C) : laboratory and complementary learning

Theory:1 written test

Complementary learning: Laboratory work case studies

The student needs to score at least 9/20 as a minimal grade in each component (Theory and Continuous evaluation).

The student must attend at least 75% of all classes and have a final mark of at least 10/20 to pass the course

Calculation formula of final grade

Practice - continuous evaluation

Theoretical - written examination

The Final grade is calculated using the following formula:

Theory test (T) (maximum score 9/20) + Laboratory (maximum score 9/20) + Complementary + class attendance (maximum score 2/20)

Examinations or Special Assignments

Not relevant

Special assessment (TE, DA, ...)

These students will be allowed to have alternative exam dates, in accordance with the law.

Classification improvement

It is obligatory to evaluate theory and laboratory components of the discipline.
